How to Use MyVJ

1. What is MyVJ?
MyVJ is a real-time music-reactive VJ app for iOS and Android.
Just play music near your device — MyVJ listens through the microphone and automatically generates stunning visual effects in sync with the sound.
No setup required. No DJ skills needed. Just press play.
2. Getting Started
- Launch the MyVJ app
- When the calibration guide appears, play music at your usual volume
- Tap the AUTO CALIB button
- Calibration completes automatically
- Enjoy the visuals
3. Calibration
What is Calibration?
Calibration sets the optimal sensitivity for your environment.
Because every venue, speaker, and volume level is different, MyVJ needs to measure the sound level before it can react accurately.
How to Calibrate
- Play music at the volume you normally use
- Tap the AUTO CALIB button in the calibration guide or in the Sys Panel
- Wait a few seconds — calibration completes automatically
- The CALIB button returns to its default appearance when done
When to Recalibrate
- When you move to a different venue
- When the volume changes significantly
- When the visuals feel too weak or too intense
- Simply open the Sys Panel and tap AUTO CALIB again anytime
4. Sys Panel
The Sys Panel is MyVJ’s control center. Open it by tapping the Sys Panel icon in the top right corner.
BEAT
Detects the rhythm and pulse of the music.
- GAIN — overall sensitivity for beat detection
- OFFSET — threshold for beat trigger
- FLUX — responsiveness to beat changes
BASS
Reacts to low-frequency sounds (kick drums, bass lines).
MID
Reacts to mid-frequency sounds (vocals, guitars, synths).
HIGH
Reacts to high-frequency sounds (hi-hats, cymbals).
SPARKLE
Reacts to ultra-high frequencies for glittering, sparkling effects.
Each band has:
- GAIN — sensitivity
- FINE — fine-tuning of the response curve
- LO / HI — frequency range (advanced)
5. Patterns
MyVJ includes four visual patterns. Swipe left or right in the preview window to switch between them.
SpaceRider
Fly through a galaxy tunnel at warp speed. Music-reactive gates and particles surround you as you accelerate through deep space.
Beat 3Boxes
Three geometric frames pulse, glow, and react independently to BASS, MID, and SPARKLE. Minimalist and hypnotic.
Spark Box
A glittering circuit board that lights up with every beat. High-frequency sounds trigger cascading sparks across the surface.
Moonlight
A moonlit ocean surface under a star-filled sky. Aurora lights drift overhead as the water responds to the music.
6. Tips
For loud venues (clubs, DJ booths)
Recalibrate after you arrive and the sound system is running at full volume. This ensures MyVJ is tuned to the actual environment.
For DJ booth use
Place your device where the speaker sound reaches the microphone clearly. Avoid placing it directly against a speaker — some distance gives better frequency balance.
Clock Mode
Tap the clock icon in the top right to switch to clock display mode. MyVJ continues reacting to music in the background. Perfect for leaving on a screen in your booth.
Getting the best visuals
- Music with strong bass and clear rhythm works best
- Try adjusting GAIN up if the visuals feel too subtle
- Try adjusting GAIN down if the visuals feel too chaotic
